NEW YORK, N.Y. - Major League Soccer has fined one player for striking at the head and two for flopping. The league says its disciplinary committee sanctioned Kansas City defender Igor Juliao for striking D.C. Uniteds Davy Arnaud in the head or face in a game on May 31, and Montreal defender Hassoun Camara and Vancouver midfielder Sebastian Fernandez for attempting to draw fouls. Camara was cited for simulation, which means contact was not made when he attempted to influence the officials in a match on May 31 against New England. Fernandezs fine was for embellishment against Portland on Sunday, when he grabbed at his face and fell over despite being contacted only on his arms. The amounts of the fines were not disclosed. That lifted his save percentage to .924 in eight games, a nice contribution from the backup, and putting him in good company among backup goaltenders this season. ZEROES Gilbert & Emelin - The Montreal defence pairing of Tom Gilbert and Alexei Emelin spent most of the night chasing Panthers in the defensive zone, with Emelin (7 shot attempts for, 20 against, 25.9%) posting the worst possession stats among Habs defencemen. Nail Yakupov - Even in a rare Oilers win, they got more of the same from their young winger. Yakupov started 75% of shifts against Los Angeles in the offensive zone, yet finished with 27.6% (8 for, 21 against) of even-strength shot attempts. Hes the rare forward to start more than two-thirds of his shifts in the offensive zone this season, yet fall below break-even on attempted shot differential. LINEUP NEED TO KNOW Brian Elliott - Returned to the St. Louis net, for his first game since November 25 after suffering a lower-body injury, and stopped 44 of 47 shots in a 3-2 loss at Nashville. Coming into the game, Bourque and Jokinen had combined for five points this season and had the two lowest ice times in the game for Nashville. Jokinen also had the best possession stats (18 shot attempts for, 6 against, 75.0%) for the Predators. Panthers G Roberto Luongo stopped 33 of 34 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to Montreal…Oilers G Ben Scrivens turned aside 37 of 39 shots in a 3-2 shootout win against Los Angeles; it was his first win this season while recording more than 32 saves…Canucks G Ryan Miller had 31 saves on 32 shots in a 3-1 win at San Jose. FANTASY TIPS Its a busy night on the ice for the last day of 2014, so here are half a dozen players that you may want to get into your lineup: Mathieu Perreault - Leads the Jets with 12 points (7 G, 5 A) in 12 games in December, not bad considering his start to the season, which included no goals and three assists through his first 19 games. Andrei Vasilevskiy - Tampa Bays top goaltending prospect was recalled from the AHL, again, and it looks as though hell get the start against Buffalo. He stopped 94 of 100 shots in three games with the Lightning recently, when Ben Bishop was injured. Loui Eriksson - Hes still not generating shots like he did during his peak years in Dallas, but Eriksson has eight points (4 G, 4 A) in his past six games. Matt Calvert - The Blue Jackets winger has only nine points in 25 games this season, but has four points (1 G, 3 A) in the past four games and played a season-high 21:33 last game. Justin Abdelkader - On a three-game point streak, the Detroit winger has been playing and scoring more this year, thanks in large part to frequent linemates Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. Colton Sceviour - Getting a chance with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin on the Stars top line, Sceviour has five points (1 G, 4 A) in his past seven games.
