BRUSSELS， June 14 (Xinhua) -- The number of persons employed increased by 0.3 percent in both the eurozone and the wider European Union (EU) in the first quarter this year compared with the previous quarter， according to estimates published by Eurostat on Friday.


The statistics agency of the EU said compared with the same quarter of the previous year， employment increased by 1.4 percent in both zones in the first quarter after 1.2 percent up in the euro area and 1.3 percent up in the EU in the fourth quarter of 2015.
